In Dark Phoenix, the X-Men will have to face one of their own – Jean Grey as she battles with the unstable and chaotic power of the Phoenix.

Jean gains the power when she is almost killed by a mysterious cosmic force on an away mission. The problem is, Jean can’t control the power and it slowly consumes her, causing utter destruction to the people she loves – the people she calls her family.

The X-Men, completely torn, not only have to find a way to work together and save Jean’s soul but they also have to protect the goddamn planet from aliens who’ve caught a whiff of Jean’s power.

In the trailer itself, we also cop a look at Jean’s dark childhood.

As with a number of X-Men films, the cast is just quality.

Sophie Turner returns to the role of Jean Grey as does Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, James McAvoy as Professor X, Michael Fassbender as Magneto, Tye Sheridan as Cyclops, Nicholas Hoult as Beast, Alexandra Shipp as Storm, Kodi Smit-McPhee as Nightcrawler, and Evan Peters as Quicksilver.

Dark Phoenix also welcomes the addition of Jessica Chastain in the role of Smith, the film’s main villain.

If you’ve had a peak at Jean in the comics then you’ll know the power of the Phoenix is not one to take lightly… especially if you know what happens in the end.

Either way, expect a shit ton of action sequences and end-of-the-world vibes.

Dark Phoenix is preceded by X-Men: First Class (2011), X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014)and the not the best but still a trip X-Men: Apocalypse (2016)
