Daniel Webb Of ‘MAFS’ Fronts Court Over Alleged $20m Cold Calling Scam

Daniel Webb

Daniel Webb of Married At First Sight faced the Brisbane Magistrate’s Court today over his alleged involvement in a multi-million dollar cold calling scheme.

The 35-year-old is among 12 individuals who are accused of targeting nearly 600 people, as part of an alleged $15-$20 million “boiler room” operation.

Per reports in The Courier Mail, police say victims of the scheme were asked to pay $500-1000 for a trial of betting and investment software, then made to sign 12-month contracts.

Webb appeared alongside a number of his co-accused in court this morning. Charges previously laid against the parties were dismissed, and fresh ones were substituted.

The accused face charges for various fraud and money laundering offenses. Daniel Webb himself is charged in relation to more than $30,000 allegedly gained from the syndicate.

Webb, who plays rugby on the Gold Coast, was paired up with Tamara Joy on the most recent season of Married At First Sight.

He infamously started a relationship with fellow cast-member Jessika Power while on the show, and the pair left their spouses and re-entered as a couple.

He is due to face court again in October.
