Dan Harmon To Helm Sweary Adult Show Inspired By ‘Thomas The Tank Engine’

Dan Harmon might be a lot of things, but “unproductive” is definitely not one of them.

The writer/showrunner/drunken genius/egotistical commander of nerds used the spare time earned by being unceremoniously fired from Community – the show he created – by co-creating and developing a little animated series called Rick & Morty, which is currently in the midst of producing its long-awaited third season for Adult Swim.
In between that (and running the successful Harmontown podcast, which subsequently had its own rather excellent documentary film of the same name) Harmon’s been managing to fill in what (apparently) little free time he has by developing yet another new TV series, and if it’s half as good as it sounds, you can sign all of us up right this very second.
FX and Harmon are partnering up on a project entitled ‘Happy City,’ which is being quite succinctly described as “Thomas the Tank Engine for adults.”
If you’ve managed to pick your jaws up off the floor, know that it gets better. The show will apparently use the same model city-style vehicles that Thomas famously employed to tell the story of Tyler the Taxi and his ragtag group of very much non-human friends as they live their lives in the big city.
And as if that alone wasn’t enough, Harmon’s brought in YouTube sketch troupe Extremely Decent to help bring the show to life. If you’re unfamiliar with Extremely Decent‘s work, wrap your eyes around this.

There’s obviously no word at this stage just when any of us will get to see Happy City.
But a sweary version of Thomas the Tank Engine penned by DAN FREAKING HARMON? Yes. Bloody. Please.
