Cynthia Nixon Posts Sweet Tribute To Son For New York’s Trans Day Of Action

Former Sex and the City star and candidate for New York governor, Cynthia Nixon, posted a sweet tribute to her son on the 14th annual Trans Day of Action.

The 21-year-old was born Samantha Mozes.

Nixon posted the picture to her Instagram with the caption “I’m so proud of my son Samuel Joseph Mozes (called Seph) who graduated college this month. I salute him and everyone else marking today’s #TransDayofAction. #TDOA”

Seph had just graduated from The University of Chicago.

On her Twitter, Nixon wrote that even though the LGBTQI community have greater visibility and acceptance than ever before, “members of the trans community are at a much higher risk of experiencing violence and discrimination. Today, and every day, we stand with trans New Yorkers!”

The 52-year-old is also a mother to Charles Ezekiel Mozes, 15, with her ex-husband Danny Mozes and little Max Ellington Nixon-Marinoni, with her wife, Christine Marinoni.

Trans Day of Action is organised by The Audre Lorde Project – a LGBTQI and people of colour community organisation centre in New York.

In March of this year, Nixon announced she would be running for governor of New York against Democrat, Andrew Cuomo.

Nixon has said she put her hand up for governor because she knows her city can do better and turn itself into a “New York for the many, not just the few.”

Earlier this week, the governor candidate urged her supporters to sign a petition to abolish ICE – the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement – in response to the nation’s public outcry to the separation of undocumented immigrant families.
