In news that might just make your (lockdown) weekends a little bit sweeter, Disney’s live-action Cruella will become available to all Disney+ subscribers this Friday. I haven’t watched a new movie in yonks, so I am extremely excited.
Cruella premiered on Disney+ a couple of months ago, but was only available to those with Premier Access. In other words, you had to pay a wee bit extra for it. But this Friday, three months later, Cruella will be available to watch for all Disney+ subscribers, no extra charge.
Set in 1970s London, during the punk rock revolution, Cruella follows a young grifter named Estella (Emma Stone), who’s heaps keen to make a name for herself in the fashion industry. On her way, she befriends a pair of young thieves – as you do – who appreciate her appetite for mischief and together, they build a life for themselves on the streets of London.
One day, Estella’s designs catch the eye of one Baroness von Hellman (Emma Thompson), a legend in the game who is both chic and terrifying haute, read: a huge snob.
But while things are fine and dandy-ish in the beginning, their relationship sets in motion a course of events that will inevitably lead to Estella’s descent into *drumroll* Cruella.
The film co-stars Paul Walter Hauser (I, Tonya), Emily Beecham (The Pursuit of Love), Joel Fry (Yesterday), Kirby Howell Baptiste (Why Women Kill), and Mark Strong (Kingsman).
Cruella will become available to all Disney+ subscribers on Friday, August 27. This is easily the most excited I’ve been since lockdown – whichever one we’re all up to – was announced.
This is genuinely as good as my Friday night is going to get and I’m not mad about it!
Also, the movie is a whopping two hours and 16 minutes long, which is a welcome distraction from *gestures* all of this.
If you don’t have Disney+ already, you can sign up right here.
