Disney has unleashed the deliciously sinister trailer for Cruella, starring Emma Stone, and she’s every bit as chaotically evil as you thought she’d be.

Set in the 1970s, the film follows a young grifter named Estella, a clever and creative girl determined to make a name for herself with her wicked designs. She befriends a pair of young thieves who froth her mischief, and together they build a life for themselves on the streets of London.

One day, however, Estella’s efforts catches the eye of one Baroness von Hellman, an absolute legend in the fashion industry. But their relationship leads to a course of events and revelations that will cause Estella to embrace her wicked side and become the Cruella we know today.

I, for one, would love to know how Cruella went from relatively normal (?) to “I would like to wear your dog”.

Cruella is directed by Craig Gillespie (I, Tonya), and co-stars Dame Emma Thompson (you know who she is), Paul Walter Hauser (Da 5 Bloods), Emily Beecham (Into the Badlands), Joel Fry (Love Wedding Repeat), Kirby Howell Baptiste (Why Women Kill), and Mark Strong (Kingsman).

Disney’s Cruella premieres May 27, and you can find the original films starring Glenn Close on Disney+ now. I rewatched them recently and they still absolutely hold up.

I mean, Emma Stone definitely has the laugh down pat.

On Wednesday, Disney blessed us with the film poster and let me just say that seeing it was the exact moment I added Cruella to my list.

Look at that smokey eye.

Cruella aside for the moment, Disney is gearing up for the release of a slew of big titles this year, including Raya And The Last Dragon (March 4), Black Widow (April 29), Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (July 8), and Jungle Cruise (July 29). That’s really just four new Disney movies coming out though, there’s plenty more.

Not to mention, Disney’s brand new channel Star launches on February 23! The upgrade will be filled with over 400 new films and TV shows, think: the Alien Franchise (which I’ve been trying to watch for ages), The X-Files seasons 1 to 11, Desperate Housewives seasons 1 to 8, and Pretty Woman.

Again, that’s just the beginning.
