On the final episode of Old People’s Home For 4 Year Olds Aussie legend and gardening king Costa Georgiadis drops in to help the the kids and adults with their community garden.

If you haven’t been watching Old People’s Home For 4 Year Olds you need to add it to watch list immediately. It’s a wholesome experiment that brings ten elderly people into a kindergarten to see if it can improve the lives of the participants. It’s particularly important for the older folk, as many of them are widowed and spend their days alone in a retirement home. I have cried multiple times watching the show, it really plucks at my little heart-strings.

Costa is also a fan of the show, which is why he was so excited to feature in this week’s episode. PEDESTRIAN.TV spoke to the famous gardener about being on the show, and what it was like working alongside the retirees and 4 year olds.

“After seeing the first series of the show, I was captivated,” Costa said.

“I live in that space, I work with children…and equally I spend time with elders.

“I just see the wonderful fusion between those two and I think this series captures it. It just brings out this wonderful connection between the innocence of our youth and the experience of our elders. But they can both teach each other so much.

“That interplay between the children and the adults has been really wonderfully balanced in the series.”

Aside from being a host on ABC’s Gardening Australia, Costa is also a regular character on children’s show Get Grubby TV. The kids immediately recognised him and were super excited to look at worms with him.

“It’s funny because as I was approaching and I was buzzing up to the plants and sort of slowly making my way there, I heard someone go ‘Costa, it’s Costa,’” he said.
