Corey Worthington, That Guy, Is Set To Appear On ‘Australian Ninja Warrior’

A Hall of Fame-calibre character in the annals of Australian television history is about to come roaring back to life across the nation, but probably not via the avenue you’d most suspect.

Corey Worthington, the legendary child who simply would not remove his sunglasses, is reportedly set to make his televisual comeback some 10 years after he first shot to national prominence on the back of one hell of a party.

Worthington is now set to test his luck as a contestant on season two of Australian Ninja Warrior, with the man himself posting a photo from the set a few days ago.

That’s right, marking the 10 year anniversary of Leila McKinnon attempting to own the young lad on national TV and failing miserably at it, Worthington is swapping his giant yellow sunglasses for a tilt at the salmon ladder, with the second season of Ninja Warrior set to hit screens from early July.

Worthington, who is reportedly sporting a hefty rig nowadays, even went so far as to apply for the show rather than being sought out by any publicity-frothing producer.

Show co-host Ben Fordham confirmed that Worthington is a fair specimen nowadays, and even brought his trademark sunglasses along with him for his heat. Although, as Fordham details, Corey didn’t keep them on for the run because “if they had fallen off mid-obstacle and had hit the water it would have been an instant disqualification. I’m pretty sure he threw them over at Freddie Flintoff who wore them while Corey was going through the course.” Cool rules that make total sense.

The now 27-year-old Worthington is among a raft of notable faces who’ll attempt to master the warped wall in the second season of Nine’s wildly popular show, alongside the likes of former NRL star Paul Gallen, ex-Bachelor beau Tim Robards, and the son of Lisa Curry and Grant Kenny, the impossibly good looking Jett Kenny.

That. That alleged “human” is gonna run the Bridge of Blades.

Lord have mercy, what a show.

Season 2 of Australian Ninja Warrior premieres on July 8th.

Until then, let us reminisce on the last significant time Corey Worthington graced Australian TV screens.

Un-fucken-real.
