Cody Simpson has opened up publicly for the first time on his relationship with Miley Cyrus, telling a reporter that it’s “safe to say” the pair are official.
Simpson was attending the launch of the Tiffany & Co men’s collection in Los Angeles, alongside Jeff Goldblum, who gave a surprise jazz performance at the event.
The pair have been all over each-other’s social media in thirsty comments and posts for several weeks, but this pretty much confirms it, with him declaring:
“I’m very happy. We are very, very happy. She’s creative. She’s very passionate about what she does, and I’m very similar in that sense. That’s why we get along so well. We just have a ball, yeah, and that’s the most important part of a relationship, you know?”
He added:
“The reason why it hasn’t been a really crazy sudden thing is just because we’ve been friends for so long … [we] found each other again in a space where we’re both not partying, working real hard, and it just keeps things healthy and it’s good. Any girlfriends I’ve had in the past has always been immediate romance and so it’s a different experience having been friends with somebody before and it developing naturally into something more.”
A source close to Miley, however, gave a slightly contradictory account of things to E! News recently, saying of the relationship:
“Miley is being Miley. She is having fun and that’s all. She is not looking for anything serious. She has known Cody for a long time and is very comfortable with him. There’s no strings attached and she is just going to see where each day takes her.”
Miley’s ex Liam Hemsworth, who was recently spotted mid-PDA with rumoured new girlfriend Maddison Brown, is reportedly fine with his ex and Cody Simpson.
“He wants what’s best for her – even if it’s not him,” an unnamed individual close to the actor told US Weekly.
