Oh My God, Someone Has Rebooted ‘Club Penguin’ And It Already Has 6 Million Users

Club Penguin

Holy shit, you guys, someone out there has resurrected Club Penguin. It’s not the OG Club Penguin but it is Club Penguin.

As we delve deeper into isolation, many of us have been searching for the thing(s) to get us through. For me, it’s Animal Crossing: New Horizons. For others, it’s Club Penguin Online and Club Penguin Rewritten, two different versions of the beloved childhood game.

The original Club Penguin, the one Disney owned, shut up shop back in 2017. It was a day of mourning, to say the least.

Disney tried to save the franchise by bringing people Club Penguin Island, but then that came to an end in 2018. All was silent, until this week when someone tweeted that the game had made a return… TWO YEARS AGO.

From what I can tell, there are two main Club Penguins now. There’s Club Penguin Online, which claims to have 6 million users, and there’s Club Penguin Rewritten. Again, neither of these are the original, but they come quite close.

I was skeptical at first because of the lack of, well, verification on Twitter, but it really looks like a lot of people are playing both versions of the game. And it may or may not have something to do with the fact that both games are free.

By the looks of it, Club Penguin Online launched two years ago and has been rapidly growing ever since. Expect new parties and events every few weeks.

Earlier today, the team tweeted that they’re super thankful so many people are enjoying Club Penguin Online in, I assume, isolation.

“We updated our servers last week to handle the huge increase of users but looks like we’ll need to invest in new servers. Apologies if you experience any lag or issues, we’re working on it ASAP.”

Expect more traffic, my dudes.
