Clear Your Tuesday Evenings, Because ‘Atlanta’ Has An Aussie Premiere Date

In extremely good news to round out your Friday, Donald Glover‘s Golden Globe-winning dramady ‘Atlanta‘ finally has a premiere date in Australia.

You ready? Tuesday 28 February, 9:30pm on SBS Viceland. And they say broadcast television is dead.

‘Atlanta’ picked up the Best TV Series, Comedy/Musical at last month’s Globes, and Glover – who writes, stars and produces the thing, like he doesn’t have enough else going on being Childish Gambino ‘n whatnot – earned himself a Best Actor in a Comedy. Not bad (read: insanely good) for a show in its first season.

The show follows the story of college dropout + yung daddy Earn Marks (Glover) and his talented rapper cousin Paper Boi (Brian Tyree Henry) as they attempt to break into Atlanta’s music scene.

The show has been praised for its depiction of black culture and reflection on Glover’s experiences with white culture, with the writing room entirely made up with people of colour, and mostly Atlanta natives to boot.

He told Vulture last year, “I wanted to show white people, you don’t know everything about black culture,” and come late Feb, you’re about to be told, too.
