Classic ’90s Sitcom ‘Roseanne’ Is Coming Back With Its Original Cast

With new episodes of Twin Peaks coming in a matter of weeks, a revival of Will & Grace in the pipeline, and another season of The X-Files on the way, it’s fair to say that classic ’90s TV shows are having a moment right now.
We can now add Roseanne to that growing list, with Deadline reporting that the beloved sitcom is coming back for an eight-episode revival, with many of the original cast looking to reprise their roles.
Roseanne Barr and John Goodman, who played working class couple Roseanne and Dan Conner, are reportedly interested in returning, along with original stars Laurie Metcalf and Sara Gilbert
The producers are currently looking for a home for the series, and are reportedly courting streaming services like Netflix as well as broadcast networks, like the show’s original home on the American ABC channel.
Earlier this year, Sara Gilbert had a mini-reunion with TV dad John Goodman on her current show The Talk. At the time, Goodman said “hell yes” when asked if he was interested in going back to Roseanne
Gilbert said that she would be interested in a reboot if the conditions were just right. “Your only fear is you don’t want to do a bad version, because you don’t want to damage what’s been done,” she said at the time.
Roseanne originally ran for nine seasons, although it was revealed in the final moments of the show that the ninth season was all just Roseanne’s fantasy, and that Dan had died of a heart attack at the end of season eight.
It’s unclear how they’ll bring him back, but it’s TV, so I’m sure they’ll find a way.
