Cindy McCain Blasts Gwyneth Paltrow For Comparing Cyber-Bullying To War

Last week Gwyneth Paltrow compared being trolled on the World Wide Web to having bullets shot at you in a war. In her words: “You come across [online comments] about yourself and about your friends… It’s almost like how, in war, you go through this bloody, dehumanising thing.” Does Cindy McCain, wife of a POW & mother of two soldiers, have something to say about that? Yes she does!

Gwyneth Paltrow, who’s still frequently described as an “actress” despite now being more active in the field of selling rich people $236 napkins, made the comments at a technology conference. She added “My hope is, as we get out of it, we’ll reach the next level of conscience”, whatever that means.

Unsurprisingly, that rankled with Cindy McCain, wife of Arizona senator and former solider John McCain, who punted her on Twitter before appearing on HLN Now TV to ram her point home:

“I would encourage Gwyneth Paltrow – and I would be happy to go with her – to go sit down with some troops who have served in Afghanistan or Iraq and talk to them about what really goes on, and perhaps meet some of the young men and women who have lost limbs from this. It’s Hollywood; I don’t know what else to say.”

Schooled.
