I don’t pretend to understand why it is that certain people fall in love, but nor am I about to pass judgment on it. I’m not on this Earth to be a goalie: If it’s not hurting anyone, I’m here to assist and get out of the way. So it is with absolutely no wrinkled nose or furrowed brow that I relate the news that Christina Hendricks and Geoffrey Arend have announced they are getting divorced, after a 12-year relationship.

In a joint statement posted to social media earlier today, the enduring couple confirmed they would be going their separate ways, stating they will “always be grateful for the love we’ve shared” and that they will “always work together to raise our two beautiful dogs.”
The duo were introduced via Hendricks’ Mad Men co-star Vincent Kartheiser, and subsequently married on October 11, 2009 in New York.
Just yesterday, Hendricks posted a photo of the couple’s Halloween costumes to Instagram, with Arend as an entirely decent Wolfman and Hendricks as a bloody spectacular Nosferatu.
Now, I’m certainly not saying that my man Geoff has been doing a bang-up job of punching eons above his own weight for a solid decade and that that’s a run worthy of a standing ovation.
Of course I’m not saying that.
That would be very rude of me.
