Meanwhile, the fabulous Chrissy Teigen’s currently off vacationing somewhere nice with the family. Today, she decided to share an adorable video of the trip, one which showed her playing with this itty bitty seemingly harmless insect the size of my pinkie.

That’s right, Teigen had chilled with your friendly neighbourhood Tarantula Hawk Wasp.
If, for some reason you can’t access those screenshots, it’s a collection of amused yet concerned fans pointing out that “nice bug” is in fact the tarantula hawk wasp. One user tweeted “The Tarantula hawk wasp has an extremely painful sting. Female TH Wasps attack tarantula spiders, lay their eggs inside of them, and the eggs slowly eat the spider from the inside.” Another tweeted something similar but this time, with video evidence of said tarantula hawk wasp dragging a paralysed tarantula spider back to its chamber to lay its egg in it.
Fun fact: the tarantula hawk ranks 4.0 out of 4.0 on the Schmidt Sting Pain Index. A tarantula hawk sting is said to feel “blinding, fierce, shockingly electric.” If you have trouble imagining that then think “a running hair dryer has dropped in your bubble bath.”
Justin O. Schmidt, curious as to how powerful an insect sting could be, allowed himself to be stung by 10 little dangers including the Bullet Ant, Yellowjacket, and Fire Ant.
FOR the sake of curiosity, there’s this fearless YouTuber by the name of Coyote Peterson. He’s… brave to say the least and travels the world getting stung by some of the most poisonous bugs in the world. Sometimes he’ll just place his arm between the jaws of a snapping turtle or a baby croc just to see what it feels like to get chomped on.
