Just about a week after Chris Pratt promised fans there would be a Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, the actor has now revealed the crew are working off of a script from James Gunn.

Gunn, who directed the first two films of the franchise, was fired after a series of tweets resurfaced online from the periods between 2008 and 2011. The tweets showed the now 52-year-old making multiple jokes about rape and paedophilia.

Despite strong public support from the entire GOTG main cast and fan petitions, Gunn was not reinstated as director.

Chatting to MTV News, Pratt seemingly confirmed Disney/Marvel were still using Gunn’s script and described it as “off the chain. It’s so good.”

Addressing Gunn’s dismissal, Pratt kept his response pretty safe.

“Well, I love James. I’m loyal to James and I love him so much. And we’re gonna, we’re gonna deliver the movie.”

“We’re gonna give the fans what they deserve,” he added.

As for a replacement director, well Disney/Marvel have yet to announce one.

Taika Waititi has been a hot fave to fill Gunn’s shoes but earlier this week, Waititi said he wasn’t too keen on jumping on the project.

Speaking at a TCA panel for What We Do In The Shadows, Waititi told reporters:

“For me, those are James’ films. Going into something like that with his stamp all over his films, would be like going into someone’s house and saying ‘Hey, I’m your new dad, and this is how we make peanut butter sandwiches now.’ It feels kind of awkward.”

At the time of his firing, the GOTG cast – Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Karen Gillan, Michael Rooker, Pom Klementieff, and Gunn’s brother Sean Gunn all signed a joint statement declaring their support for the director.

More than 400,000 people have also signed a change.org petition, backing Gunn.
