Chris Lilley Causes A Scene In London

Chris Lilley’s dual pronged approach to marketing Angry Boys is paying off handsomely. Following his Australian shopping centre tour/S.Mouse concert series earlier this year, the comedian has made history in a London HMV store after hosting the “biggest DVD signing” the Oxford Street branch had ever seen. That’s just one specific store with the qualifier “DVD” but it is very important history nonetheless. The signing took over four hours to complete with more than a thousand people in attendance, some of whom waited six hours to meet their idol. He followed the meet and greet with a sold out performance at London’s 02 Islington Academy, donning baggys and blackface for a show one reviewer called “a rare and perhaps overdue treat for his ever-growing army of devotees”. We hope he doesn’t get shived out there.

Angry Boy is currently screening on BBC3 in the UK.
