Australia’s own Chris Hemsworth has, by every measurable metric, had an absolutely bumper year in the pay department. So much so that, according to data released by Forbes, he is now the second highest paid actor in Hollywood. And he’s only trailing some bloke by the name of The Rock to boot.
A wild scenario for a man that personally owes me $500.
But we’ll get to that in a moment.
The figures released by Forbes reveals that, once again, Hollywood’s highest paid actor is old mate Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, whose earnings over the past twelve months total some US$89.4million, or around AU$130.5million. That’s a slight drop off from the record-breaking year Johnson enjoyed in 2018, where he raked in US$124million (AU$181million), which is the most amount of money earned by an actor ever recorded since Forbes started reporting on these things.
Johnson’s 2019 fortune has been built on the back of box office successes like Hobbs & Shaw and Jumanji: The Next Level, which make money hand-over-fist purely because The Rock’s name is attached to it.
Hemsworth, on the other hand, is Hollywood’s number two money boy this year, thanks to largely to the box office juggernaut that was Avengers: Endgame. Old mate managed to haul in US$76.4million (AU$111.6million) over the past twelve months, which makes the fact that he owes me $500 even more outrageous.
A few months ago you might recall the story of how I, while competing in a footrace against an actual athlete in what was an ill-advised piece of “fan participation” at an AFL game being held at Marvel Stadium, managed to fall completely ass-over-tit and fracture five ribs. Don’t worry, we’ve still got the video of it.

I lost the race, meaning I lost out on the $500 prize that was on offer, but I feel strongly that I earned that amount of money through the 4.5 weeks of recovery the fractured ribs forced me through.
I also feel quite strongly that, as Australia’s principle Marvel representative, that Chris Hemsworth is both Mr. Marvel Australia and has a residence somewhere inside Marvel Stadium, meaning he personally owes me that $500.
And really, when you’re earning over $76 million in a single year, it seems ridiculous that you wouldn’t simply pay me that money.
It’s only $500.
Chris Hemsworth has $76 million.
It wouldn’t even make a dent in that amount.
Pay me the $500, Chris. Let’s just settle this once and for all and be done with it.
