Kanye West‘s bid for the U.S. Presidency, a flight of fancy that we are collectively encouraging well into its second entertaining week, picked up a bit more steam overnight, when former first daughter Chelsea Clinton gave her assessment of #Kanye2020.
In an interview with MTV News, Clinton said that she supports Ye’s decision to run for higher office in principle, thanks to the fact that it might well inspire young people to consider careers in politics. She told the publication:
“I definitely think who runs for office is really important. Even if him just saying that helps spark a little boy or a little girl who was watching the VMAs to think, ‘Oh, wow! Maybe I should do that,’ that’s awesome.”
Chelsea’s mother Hilary Clinton is currently taking a tilt at the White House in 2016, so when asked if Ye has her support, her diplomatic answer was “it depends who he’s running against.”
Earlier this week, Taylor Swift joined the chorus of support for #Kanye2020, offering to serve as his Veep.
FWIW, in the actual 2016 race, Republian candidate Donald Trump leads Democrat Hilary Clinton 45 percent to 40 percent in head-to-head polls, which is something to think about while you shake your head in dismay.
