Channel Ten Announces Sport Game Show; Wants You To Name Their Morning Program

Channel 10, in a move that will attempt to cure their ailing ratings of last year, have announced a new family, sport-oriented entertainment show—hosted by comedian Tommy Little with team captains Wimbledon star Pat Cash and celebrity master chef 2011 Bachelor of the Year Olympic medalist Eamon Sullivan.

An imported version of the UK show of the same name, A League of Their Own will be the game show cum sport entertainment spectacle that someone in Australian TV must have asked for. The show will be filmed in front of a live audience each week in Sydney, so, [canned laughter] at sporting puns may unfortunately ensue.

The comedy panel show will have teams quarreling over quizzes, stunts and sports challenges. It’ll be like an ingenious melange of Celebrity Splash and QI – except with 100% less Stephen Fry, and it probably won’t be a gigantic flop.

Network Ten’s Chief Programming Officer, Beverley McGarvey, is ecstatic about the program, and tells us five times that it’s going to be BIG, you guys: “It is a big entertainment show for the whole family, with big stars, big stunts, a big set and big laughs.”

Channel Ten has also announced today that they couldn’t figure out what to name their upcoming Morning show, featuring Ita Buttrose and Joe Hildebrand; you get to do it instead!

Some A+ entries have already emerged:

And it looks like the untitled morning show is already receiving some preemptive hate:

Karl, we’re waiting for your move, bud.

A League of Their Own and the new morning show are both set to air on Channel Ten later this year.
