Celebs Quit Twitter Today For Charity

Avid tweeters Alicia Keys, Lady Gaga, Usher, Justin Timberlake, Ryan Seacrest and even Kim Kardashian will be putting a long-awaited sock in it all in the name of a good cause.

Starting today, December 1, the chatty celebs will forcefully detain themselves from all social network mediums by committing ‘digital suicide’ for a campaign called Digital Life Sacrifice, on behalf of Key’s charity Keep A Child Alive. Tweeting and FB’ing will not resume until fans resurrect their chosen celebrity by figuratively purchasing their lives back via donations, with $1 million being the quota that permits entry back into the prestigious social media world.

That means missing out on updates on how Kim’s maxillary second premolar crown replacement is going.

Says Leigh Blake, co-founder of Keep a Child Alive, the campaign intends to pose the question ‘why do we care so much about the death of one celebrity as opposed to millions and millions of people dying in the place that we’re all from?’

Word, Leigh. Isn’t this the best campaign you ever did hear about? Hells yeah it is. ‘Cause ingeniously, simultaneous to accepting SMS donations to support families affected by HIV and AIDS in Africa and India (cool), the above individuals will be piping down indefinitely (also cool).
