Cat Henesey Reveals She’s Had Death Threats Since Leaving ‘The Bachelor’

Cat Henesey, one of three girls to cop the notorious villain edit on this year’s season of The Bachelor, has opened up on her experiences since leaving the show, taking to her Instagram to reveal the stream of death threats and abuse she’s received in recent days.

While it’s fun to cheer on your faves and boo at the villains, it’s also important to remember that The Bachelor and shows like it are produced and edited by teams of professionals, and that the people in them are real and have feelings, too.

Some people, however, seem unable to appreciate this, and many of the have slid into Henesey’s DMs in the past few days, leaving her shaken and upset. After sharing a screenshot of an especially rough message urging her to kill herself, she bit back.

“Hey guys I just want to address some of the things people are saying to me, I know that how I was portrayed to Australia has not necessarily been great,” she said in the first of several videos on her Instagram stories.

Speaking about the DMs she’s received, Henesey said:

“Every day I’m getting hundreds of messages telling me to kill myself, telling me I’m a waste of space, getting death threats that they want to ruin my life and end me, no matter what I did and no matter how bad, no one deserves to be spoken to like that, it’s not okay.”

She also said that the version of her we saw on the show was not the real her, and that she lost herself in the experience of filming The Bachelor:

“I’m struggling really hard with this and I’m so lucky to have a great support network around me but people have got to understand that there is a lot more that goes on behind closed doors and a lot more to my personality that you didn’t see and a lot about me that wasn’t shown … I was pigeon-holed into a villain role and obviously they aren’t going to show me having a good time with girls.”

Cat Henesey left the Bachie mansion this week alongside her friends Romy Poulier and Alisha Aitken-Radburn. We spoke to Cat and Alisha yesterday, and they revealed quite a bit more about what really went own on the show.
