Bruce Campbell Will Play Ronald Reagan In The New Season Of ‘Fargo’

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it time and time again – if you haven’t, as of yet, managed to catch the absolutely phenomenal first season of FX‘s TV “adaptation” of Fargo, then holy hell you need to drop whatever it is you are doing right now and fix that problem. I’m serious. Stop working, log off, walk out of your office and go home to watch it. If your Boss gives you grief, send them my way and I’ll sort them out for you. This is absolutely serious.

The first season operated in a stand-alone format, meaning the upcoming – and hotly anticipated – season two will feature an entirely new story with an entirely new cast.
And if that cast already wasn’t stacked enough, it just got even bigger.
Along with the already announced rotunda of awesome that includes Kirsten Dunst, Patrick Wilson, Ted Danson, Jesse Plemons, Jean Smart, Nick Offerman, Kieran Culkin, Brad Garrett, Angus Sampson and Cristin Milioti among many others, now comes the news that everyone’s favourite slayer of evil dead Bruce Campbell has been revealed as a cast member.
Better still, Campbell will be playing former US President Ronald Reagan in the series.
The second season takes place decades before the first, surrounding a story that primarily takes place in Sioux Falls, South Dakota in 1979. Campbell’s role as Reagan follows the real-life political timeline of the actor-cum-POTUS, between leaving his office as the Governor of California, and in the lead-up to his second (and ultimately successful) Presidential in 1980.
FX CEO John Landgraf explained Campbell’s role and Reagan’s place in the Fargo universe – “[Reagan]’s on his campaign, and makes a swing through Fargo. Some of the characters have some interactions with him. And some of his movies are also a part of the show.”
A lot of what [Fargo’s second season] is about is the cultural transformation that was going on at the time.
Production on the second season of the show began back in January, with shooting taking place in and around Calgary, Canada.
Season two of Fargo is expected to premiere sometime this coming spring.
