‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ Has Already Copped A Season 8 Renewal Which Is Toight, Noice, & Cool

In what’s easily one of the most remarkable turnaround of fortunes for a TV show in recent memory, Brooklyn Nine-Nine has officially been picked back up by NBC bosses for a full eighth season, even before any of season seven has begun airing.

According to Variety, NBC officials have seen fit to sign off on a full eighth season order of the hugely beloved and very good sitcom, despite the fact that season seven isn’t scheduled to premiere in any form until February 6th, 2020.

That continues a fairly spectacular phoenix-like rise from the ashes after the show’s original network FOX prematurely, and quite foolishly, cancelled the show in 2018 after the show’s fifth season. NBC swooped on the series in record pace, picking it up for season six the literal next day.

The seventh season renewal from NBC came just nine months ago, however strong broadcast and streaming ratings have turned the series into the US network’s comedy golden child.

The renewal is also a show of stability from NBC, who this year brought both The Good Place and the revived Will & Grace experiment to their respective ends.

The cast of the series shared their various levels of excitement (all high) on social media following this morning’s announcement.

The show’s behind the scenes cameras even managed to capture the moment the cast and crew were told they’d be returning for Season 8 during a table read.

Important side-note: Andre Braugher apparently shows up to table reads in full Captain Holt costume, because he’s a goddamned pro.

So there you go, mates! Brooklyn Nine-Nine is now only more renewal off having Nine seasons. Make it happen, NBC. It’s the right thing to do.

NINE NINE.
