Britney Spears Has Lost Her Court Case To Boot Her Father From Her Conservatorship

Britney Spears has officially lost her court case against her father, which attempted to remove him as the sole conservator of her entire estate. On Wednesday, a US court rejected Spears’ request, to free herself of her father’s control, ruling that it will remain in place.

Spears has had zero control over her financial assets, music, performances and career since 2008, when she was placed under her father’s control due to concerns over her mental health.

Britney Spears’ lawyer, Samuel Ingham, argued in court that Spears is “afraid” of her father Jamie Spears, and would thus thrive upon being released from his authority as conservator.

He stated that due to this fear, Britney Spears will be refusing to work while under her father’s control, which means all performances and the release of music may be on pause for quite some time.

Ingham also made it clear in court that the two hadn’t really spoken to each other for a “long while”, and that no “viable working relationship” existed between the two of them.

Essentially, Jamie Spears has had control over the business affairs of Britney’s life, and yet allegedly, very little business interactions have ever occurred between the two.

Countering these claims was Vivian Thoreen, lawyer for Jamie Spears, who argued that the reason that the two had not been seeing each other in recent months was because of suggestions from Britney’s lawyer.

Ultimately, Judge Brenda Penny ruled that Jamie Spears would stay conservator of Britney’s entire estate, and the #FreeBritney movement was not happy.

Users on Twitter have shared that protestors for the #FreeBritney movement could be heard from inside the courtroom, shouting “What do we want? Free Britney! When do we want it? Now!”

Fans and members of the movement, which supports the complete release of Britney Spears from her father, have been rallying towards this idea for quite some time now, raising the point that while her conservatorship claims she is mentally ill and has ‘dementia’, she has released four albums, toured the world and was a judge on The X Factor.

It’s believed Judge Penny will consider the suspension of Jamie Spears as conservator at a later date, but for now, the fight continues.
