Britney Spears‘ attorney has just filed a petition requesting to have Jodi Montgomery (a professional conservator and Britney’s care manager) as our queen’s permanent conservator.
Britney’s lawyer Samuel Ingham filed the court documents on Wednesday and requested that Jamie Spears resign fro the role, according to Variety.
“Petitioner has requested the resignation of the current conservator of her person, James P. Spears, who temporarily relinquished his powers effective as of September 9, 2019,” the document read.
“The within petition requests his replacement by Jodi Pais Montgomery, who has acted as temporary conservator of her person since that date.”
So what on earth is a professional conservator? Well, according to Montgomery’s website they are licensed by the Professional Fiduciaries Bureau of the Department of Consumer Affairs to act on behalf of multiple persons as a trustee, estate administrators and conservators.
In 2019, Jamie had to temporarily step down as his daughter’s sole conservator due to health reasons and Montomogery stood in as temporary conservator. But now they want her as the permanent conservator.
Since The New York Times unleashed Framing Britney Spears, there has been intense pressure to #FreeBritney from this bizarre conservatorship.
Last August, Britney officially filed to have her father removed from her conservatorship, requesting that Montgomery take over permanently. Her request was ultimately denied.
The judge ruled to keep Jamie Spears as conservator and appointed Bessemer Trust, a wealth management and investment advisory firm, as co-conservator.
Last month, Spears lost his bid to become sole conservator of Britney’s wealth again.
