Britney Spears Is Reportedly Working On Her Own Tell-All Doco & Let’s Hope Jamie Lets Her Speak

Britney Spears is reportedly working on her own tell-all documentary with a top female filmmaker after the viral success of the New York Times doco Framing Britney Spears.

According to Page Six, the 39-year-old pop icon has been quietly working on a documentary of her own, seemingly to reclaim her own narrative and tell her story in her words.

The doco is reportedly being developed with the help of a top female filmmaker, who remains unnamed. Personally, I’d hedge my bets on Ava DuVernay, who gave us documentaries like 13th and films like Selma and A Wrinkle In Time.

Honestly, if DuVernay and Spears team up for a documentary, you just *know* it would be incredible.

However, there are fears that her dad Jamie Spears could seize control of the film and use it to paint himself in a better light, given the amount of control he has over her current conservatorship.

Personally, I don’t think we’ll see a documentary until Jamie is out of the conservatorship dealings, but we can only hope.

“He is drunk with power over Britney’s life. She wants to work, she wants to make music and perform, but he is too controlling,” a source told Page Six on Jamie.

“He has set her up to fail. Britney hasn’t had the proper help she needs to be able to control her own finances, to fully deal with her mental health issues, to be the mother she wants to be.”

According to Page Six, Britney is feeling relieved after the New York Times documentary, despite it being unauthorised.

“Britney finally feels like there is light at the end of a very long, dark tunnel,” a source close to Britney said.

“There are parts of the film that were too hard and emotional for her to watch — the scenes that describe the most difficult times of her life, the relentless media circus and the harsh focus on her as a young mother. But, she feels, for the first time in many years, that people are on her side and things will get better for her.”

At this point, we’re going to have to just take it all with a boulder-sized grain of salt. But Ava DuVernay, if you’re reading this, give us the Free Britney doco we deserve.
