Brie Larson could be headed to a galaxy far, far away, after jumping onto social media and actively stoking rumours that she’s in line to star in an upcoming Star Wars film.
First things first, a little background to all this.
Earlier this week, Marvel Studios head honcho Kevin Feige announced plans to produce a new Star Wars movie alongside Kathleen Kennedy of Lucasfilm.
That reveal came with an intriguing bit of added detail:
“Feige has told a major actor that there’s a specific role he would like that person to play when and if he makes the movie.”
As for the identity of “major actor” it’s reasonably safe to assume that we’re talking about someone connected to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which is a fair chunk of Hollywood.
That leaves open a lot of possibilities, like Chris Pratt, Michael B Jordan, Robert Downey Jr or (please please please for the love of god make this happen) Gwyneth Paltrow.
At this point, though, the most likely candidate is Brie Larson, who jumped onto Twitter and Instagram after the announcement to drop some very un-subtle hints.
“Did someone say Star Wars?!” she wrote, alongside a picture of her with C-3PO.

It was one of two photos showing the Captain Marvel star in full Jedi regalia:
Could Larson just be messing with us? Absolutely she could, but we’re intrigued to see where this goes either way, and would love to see her wield a lightsaber in a more official capacity should the opportunity arise.
