We peed a little bit with excitement when we heard that Oscar-winner Brie Larson was taking on the role of superhero Captain Marvel, and we’ve now been treated to our very first look at her in the role, via a series of pics snapped on the film’s set in Atlanta.
The photos were first revealed in Page Six, and show Larson as Carol Danvers, wearing a futuristic suit in shades of green, black and silver.

While it differs from her more widely-known red and gold outfit, some have pointed to a stretch in the comics when she wore a similar Kree uniform.

In the comics, her character Carol Danvers has her superpowers transferred to her from an alien, and goes on to have adventures with both the Avengers and the Guardians Of The Galaxy, although the writers of the film have said that her origin story will be tweaked a bit from the source material.
Guardians and Captain Marvel scribe Nicole Perlman said:
“If you were just going to do a straight adaptation of the comics, her origin story is very similar to Green Lantern. And obviously, that’s not what we want to do. There’s a lot of reinvention that needs to happen. We have to be aware of what’s happened in other Marvel film and makes sure that her particular storyline is unique and fun and also fits in within this world that’s going on at the same time.”
Kevin Feige of Marvel Studios confirmed that Brie Larson’s Carol Danvers will appear in the fourth Avengers film, as well as her own standalone Captain Marvel film, which is due for release in 2019.
