Associates of Bradley Cooper and Irina Shayk have spoken out about their split, saying that the couple were on the rocks last year, but were advised to stay together so as not to overshadow the publicity for his movie A Star Is Born.
An anonymous source – the best and most reliable kind of source – spoke to Entertainment Tonight about their breakup, saying that the couple had been struggling for “quite some time”, but that a split would have gotten in the way of his movie:
“They talked things through a great deal and seemed to hold off and keep up appearances for the time being. It was recommended they delay a split at what seemed to be the peak of his career because the negative attention would take away from the excitement of the release.”
The source went on to say that Shayk had “high hopes” for her future with Bradley Cooper, and that she wanted to marry him after their daughter was born, but that this never came to fruition, in part because of his busy work schedule:
“She wanted more from Bradley in every way. But she was unhappy and felt he spent too much time working … Recently Irina decided enough is enough. She didn’t feel she was getting the level of commitment she wanted and the endless fighting made their life unbearable. They are very different people and once they realized it was the baby that was holding them together, it was time to call it quits.”
Irina Shayk is reportedly still staying at the house she shared with Bradley Cooper as they work out arrangements for their family.
