Bosnian Charity Issues Warning After Pokémon GO Players Enter Minefields

It feels like everything single thing in the news the past 2 weeks has either been racism or Pokémon, so it’s always a bit of a relief when the most newsworthy out of the two groups is a Pokémon one.

Pokémon trainers / people wandering around looking at their phones in Bosnia are being warned about the dangers of accidentally walking into minefields while on the hunt for Pokémon.
Posavina bez mina, a Bosnian de-mining charity, issued a warning after hearing reports that people had been venturing into lethally unsafe areas to collect something more interesting than your regular Zubats and Rattatas:
“We received information that some users of the Pokemon Go app in Bosnia were going to places which are a risk for mines, in search of a pokemon.

“Citizens are urged not to do so, to respect demarcation signs of dangerous mine fields and not to go into unknown areas.”

The mines are leftover from the Bosnian War in the 1990s, it’s been estimated there are still around 120,000 left in the country.
