‘Bodyguard’ Star Richard Madden Is Already Chatting About A Possible S2

Bodyguard

Bodyguard hit Netflix recently and if, like me, you saw it pop up on the home screen, checked it out, and somehow binged the whole thing then you’ll be pleased to hear frontman Richard Madden is thinking about a season two.

The six-episode season one premiered on BBC in September and most recently became available on Netflix. It’s intense, to say the least – the first 20 minutes alone of episode one is a bloody stressful event. Not to mention the shit-ton of twists that go down. Madden, who plays veteran turned police sergeant/bodyguard David Budd, is downright terrifying in a please-smile-you’re-too-intimidating sort of way. Keeley Hawes is excellent as Home Secretary Julia Montague and Anjli Mohindra‘s performance will give you chills, no doubt.

Each episode runs for about an hour so even though there’s only six of them, it’s still quality bingeing material.

Chatting to DeadlineMadden said he’ll be catching up with showrunner Jed Mercurio in the following weeks to see if a second season is on the cards since people are really frothing the first.

“I’m like, what can happen next? You know, with David. Because he had a hell of a couple months there. Where do you go with this guy?” Madden told Deadline.

Fair point.

Madden also floated the idea of a series like American Horror Story, where the same actors return in a different incarnation of the story. Madden says he could be the “royal and Keeley is on my protection team.”

“And you get all the rest of the actors back, and we all do different things. But who knows what’s in Jed’s mind. I’m very keen to hear,” he said.

Same.

You can catch Madden in Bodyguard on Netflix, now. Or, you can watch him in the streaming giant’s original movie Ibiza.

Madden also stars in the highly-anticipated Elton John biopic, Rocketman which will land in cinemas May 2019.
