Biggest Dinosaur Ever Discovered In South America

Palaeontologists in Argentina say they’ve discovered bones of a new dinosaur that smashes the previous record for Biggest Ever.

The fossilised thigh bones of the dinosaur indicate it was 40 metres long, 20 metres tall and weighed in at 77 tons, making previous record-holder Argentinosaurus – pictured below trying to get the washing in before it rains – look like a tiny little insignificant baby.
The scientists, led by Jose Luis Carballido and Diego Pol, told the BBC “Given the size of these bones, which surpass any of the previously known giant animals, the new dinosaur is the largest animal known that walked on Earth”.
It’s believed to be a new species of titanosaur, a member of the herbivorous sauropod family, from the Late Cretaceous period. Let’s just hope it made the cut-off for Jurassic World?
