We Finally Know What’s Happening With The ‘Big Brother’ House & Sadly It Ain’t A Reboot

Big Brother House

It was a sad state of affairs when it came to our attention that the Big Brother house had fallen into disrepair thanks to vandals and arsonists. Late last month, YouTuber MuiTube gave a tour of the site, located at Dreamworld on the Gold Coast, and it looked more like something out of Chernobyl rather than the site of Australian television gold.

But the good news is, someone’s stepping in to do something about it. Before you get excited about a potential reboot of the classic reality show (like I admittedly did), that’s not what is happening here. The Gold Coast Bulletin reports that the Big Brother house is actually going to be totally rejuvenated and turned into a laser tag and paintball complex.

According to the Bulletin, US-based entrepreneur and paintball enthusiast Tony Odinson and Aussie Robert Kusch have been in negotiations with the site’s current owners, Queensland Investment Corporation, for “over a year” and although the QIC told the Mail that “there are currently no plans for this site”, Odinson is confident he will get his way and open his planned “Adventure Park”.

Fortunately for Odinson, the rundown state of the Big Brother house, which was last used for the eleventh and final season of the show in 2014, is perfect for his vision. He told the Gold Coast Bulletin:

We are using more than just the house. The house will just be the centre. We are going to take out the infrastructure we don’t need. Get rid of all the debris from the damage the vandals have done. We will get rid of all the glass and graffiti. Basically we will put some paint on it and make it safe. We will make it a little post-apocalyptic. Fortunately for us, a lot of the damage that has been done is something we can work with.

Odinson says Adventure Park will be family-friendly, pointing out: “We intend to have little kids parties too, not just bucks’ parties. We don’t want to be like most fields who have young males as their main clientele.”

He tells the Gold Coast Bulletin that he hopes to have the deal locked in within a 3 to 6 month period.
