Beyoncé’s Voice Turns A CGI Cat Into Royalty In Fresh ‘The Lion King’ Clip

If you’re going to rehash one of the most beloved animated films of all time for a new audience, you may as well cast the planet’s biggest stars. That was likely the memo passed around Disney headquarters ahead of The Lion King reboot, and their vision has now been realised in a new clip featuring Beyoncé goddamn Knowles as lioness Nala.

The little clip shows the musical icon intoning some words of advice for protagonist Simba, voiced by fellow pop culture phenom Donald Glover.

“Simba, you have to take your place as king,” the CGI big cat says.

“We need you. Come home.”

Her statement is followed by two other necessary parts of The Lion King universe: Timon and Pumbaa, voiced by Billy Eichner and Seth Rogen, respectively. A king is no good without a meerkat and a warthog to rule over, after all.
