A Bunch Of Super Melodramatic TV Shows For Those Who Live For The Drama

After a hard day of slogging away at work, there’s nothing we love more than retiring to the couch with some snacks to lose ourselves in other people’s drama via the telly.

Some folks get hooked on reality shows and watch real life bozos fall in ‘love’ or renovate their homes, but for those who love a bit of overdramatised fiction, boi do we have some sick picks for you from Stan.

Whether it’s a good ol’ country western battle over a ranch that takes your fancy or a period drama, there are so many melodramatic shows to gasp over in your downtime.

Yellowstone

If it’s drama you’re after, then Stan’s latest addition Yellowstone has it in large supply and we guarantee your gasps will be heard throughout the house.

The series follows the Dutton family, owners of the largest contiguous cattle ranch in America.

Some spicy events – AKA multiple unsolved murders – lead to conflict with surrounding developments including an expanding town, an Indian reservation, and America’s first national park.

Emmy award-winning actor Kevin Costner (Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit) plays John Dutton, a 6th generation billionaire and patriarch of the Dutton family who controls the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch.

The series also stars Luke Grimes (American Sniper), Kelly Reilly (Flight), Cole Hauser (Rogue), Wes Bentley (American Beauty) Kelsey Asbille (Teen Wolf) and Danny Huston (30 Days of Night).

Yellowstone has been a smash hit over in the States, becoming the most-watched original cable TV series of the summer, with the second season debut drawing even more viewers than the first season premiere.

With a third season already underway and expected to drop on Stan next year, the same day as the U.S., now is the perfect time to dive into the dramatic lives of the Dutton fam.

Check out the trailer below and head over to Stan ASAP ‘coz every episode is now streaming.

Reign

Sure, modern day dramas are spicy as hell, but have you ever seen a period drama? That’s some next-level beef, right there.

Reign tells the story of Mary Queen of Scots’ (Adelaide Kane) rise to power against all odds, including changing politics and power plays.

Interestingly, despite being set in the UK, the show features several Aussie stars like Adelaide Kane, Ben Geurens (Catching Milat) and celebrated actress Caitlin Stasey (Tomorrow When The War Began).

The entire series is now streaming on Stan so pls enjoy your wild jaunt back in time.

Famous In Love

No matter what age you are, no one can resist a teen drama. Enter: Famous In Love.

Social media star Bella Thorne (The Duff) plays Paige, a high school student who auditions for a role in a movie and ultimately gets the part, transforming her from ordinary teen to mega star overnight.

Also, nothing adds intrigue to a show like behind-the-scenes tea.

Production sources told The Hollywood Reporter that Thorne displayed “diva-like behaviour” on set and refused to take part in certain promo events for the show.

The insider also revealed that Thorne “clashed on multiple occasions” with the series’ showrunner I. Marlene King.

Famous In Love is now available to stream only on Stan so let the dramatics begin.

Revenge

I mean, the title alone should be an indication that this show is rife with piping hot drama.

Revenge is one of the most melodramatic shows I’ve ever seen, TBQH.

Emily VanCamp plays the vengeful Emily, a girl on a quest to take down whoever murdered her father and the closer she gets to finding his killer, the more shocking deets and wild plot twists unfold.

The series was a TV drama award magnet, copping nominations for multiple People’s Choice Awards and Teen Choice Awards.

Join Emily on her search for ~revenge~ with all six seasons now available to stream.

The Royals

As anyone who follows tabloid news would know, the life of a royal isn’t all coronations and canapés and literally every member of the royal fam has been embroiled in a scandal of some sort.

So if you’re in the mood for some OTT dramatics, I recommend popping on The Royals as it tells the story of a fictional royal family and the scandalous, chaotic shit that they get up to.

Aussie actress Alexandra Park and British babe Peter Moseley portray the problematic princess and prince of the series and Liz Hurley plays their calculating mother.

Binge-watch all four seasons only on Stan.

Lost

So ya wanna get ~lost~ in some heavy drama, do ya? How about getting lost on a secluded island with pirates, polar bears and all kinds of nasty creatures coming after you?

You’ll remember Lost as the show that used to leave you shook every week with its batshit storylines and non-stop flashbacks. You never had any idea where it was going, but boy did the drama keep you intrigued.

The popular but perplexing TV series ran for six seasons from September 22, 2004, to May 23, 2010 and starred Matthew Fox, Jorge Garcia, Maggie Grace, Josh Holloway, Malcolm David Kelley, Daniel Dae Kim, Yunjin Kim, Evangeline Lilly, Dominic Monaghan, Ian Somerhalder, Michelle Rodriguez and more.

Catch the entire series on Stan now.
