Beloved Actor Adam West, TV’s Original Batman, Has Died Aged 88

Adam West, the beloved star of the 1960s TV series Batman, has died in Los Angeles following a short battle with leukaemia. The actor was 88 years old.
His family released a brief statement to the media, saying: “Our dad always saw himself as The Bright Knight, and aspired to make a positive impact on his fans’ lives. He was and always will be our hero.”
West was already an established TV actor when he took on the lead role in Batman, which he played from 1966 to 1968.
While he complained that his association with the hugely-recognisable caped hero kept him from getting good roles in other projects, he eventually learned to love and embrace the humour and campiness of the character.
Later in his career, West was a fixture on the animated sitcom Family Guy, playing various characters, including Mayor Adam West, in more than 100 episodes of the series.
In a tribute posted to Twitter, Seth MacFarlane paid tribute to his colleague and friend, saying West was “a joy to work with” and that he will be “profoundly missed” by all.

Rest in peace.
