I don’t know if you guys saw this on Tuesday but Sydney Morning Herald published the most random article about our new Bachelor Matt Agnew. The gist of the article: it claims Matt is currently employed by international data analytics company Quantium, and is working as an analyst for NAB in Melbourne’s head office. So, not an astrophysicist.

According to SMH, Matt has been working there for the past three months but the job doesn’t appear on his LinkedIn, probably because 10 has branded him as the astrophysicist.
A NAB spokesperson couldn’t comment on the claims, telling WHO Magazine: “We treat personal information about our employees and contractors as confidential.”
“Quantium do from time to time provide contractors to NAB,” they added.
As these things go, people saw “NAB” and thought he was actually a banker and things got a little out of hand, which brings us to this morning.
Matt appeared on the Kyle and Jackie O Show and of course, the hosts asked him about it. Matt explained that before and during filming, he was still employed as an actual astrophysicist. But afterwards, he made a career change.
“I was employed as an astrophysicist during filming, I finished up some stuff after filming and yeah I basically pivoted and moved into a position as a data scientist.”
Matt said he was really keen to develop his skills in machine learning and artificial intelligence so he started working with the data science consultancy Quantium.
In the two months that I’ve worked for them, I think I’ve had two maybe three meetings at the NAB offices and this was sufficient to create the story that apparently I’m a banker.
“It’s a really boring truth really so I guess the story’s a little more exciting and scandalous.”
And there ya go.
All of this aside, Matt recently got his PhD in philosophy from the Swinburne University of Technology.
As for The Bachelor, we’ve got a heap of drama to look forward to tonight because someone’s walking out.
