Former Bachelorette contestant Paddy Colliar has been taken to hospital after he was stabbed in the back (literally) at a party in South Australia.
Colliar (who was on Ali Oetjen‘s season of the Bachelorette in 2018, and then Bachelor in Paradise in 2019) was at a Beafield Rd fitness studio in the Para Hills West area of Adelaide, with about 30 others at the time.
It’s believed he stepped in between a man and a woman having an altercation when he was attacked and stabbed in the back.
Colliar was then rushed to hospital with “minor wounds” which he clarified on Instagram to be broken ribs.
About 30 people were at the function, police said, and the suspect fled before they arrived – but they were found and arrested.
A 23-year-old from Semaphore was charged with aggravated assault cause harm and was bailed to appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on September 17, Adelaide Now reported.
Colliar shared the news of what happened to him on his Instagram story, with photos of himself being treated in hospital.
He captioned the images: “Appreciate the messages guys. I’m doing okay, just lost a fair bit of blood and have broken ribs. Lucky to still be here.”
Paddy Colliar was one of the more controversial contestants during his time on the Bachelorette.
The former contestant was a gym manager at the time, but admitted to having a “male escort business” prior to his stint on the dating show, which shouldn’t have been as controversial as it was.
“I had to stop stripping, the brothel that I ran had to stop. I had so much to give up – that’s what I said to Ali: I gave up the brothel for this,” he told MSN.com at the time.
However, he garnered more deserving controversy after commenting that Ali was “fit as fuck”, and received further outrage and even death threats after he sexualised the relationship between co-stars Brooke Blurton and Alex Nation.
He has since apologised for his comments, and now makes a living through a pretty successful OnlyFans account.
