‘The Bachelor Vietnam’ Just Served Up The Most Dramatic Rose Ceremony Ever

Our local version of The Bachelor has not produced very many many memorable moments so far this season, and in hindsight, it appears that if we wanted some high drama, we should have been tuning in to The Bachelor Vietnam all along.

During the show’s most recent episode, contestants Minh Thu and Truc Nhu upended the usual rose ceremony format and decided to go home with each-other, forsaking handsome suitor Nguyen Quoc Trung in the process.

It all began when Thu realised that she wasn’t receiving a rose from Trung, and decided it was time to seize her moment. “I went into this competition to find love and I’ve found that love for myself, but it isn’t with you,” she said. “It’s with someone else.”

She then approached Nhu, in possession of a rose, and tearfully embraced her, telling her to “come home with me”. The Bachie himself told Nhu she might regret the decision to leave, but hugged her warmly when she handed back her rose, and sent her on her way.

All appeared rosy for the two new lovers, but in another unexpected twist, Nhu and Trung got together for a heart-to-heart later in the episode, and she decided to go back on her earlier decision and remain on the show to see how things worked out with him.

“After talking to Trung, I’ve changed my mind to accept this rose and continue this journey,” she said, explaining her decision. Now that’s the type of drama we tune into these shows to see.

Honestly, I hope that Ali’s upcoming season of The Bachelorette Australia takes some pointers from The Bachelor Vietnam and gives us a little bloke on bloke romance, but I’m certainly not holding my breath for that.
