After just one episode of The Bachelor, there’s already drama involving certified-hottie Jimmy Nicholson and evicted-babe Annabelle O’Regan.
Yep, turns out Annabelle was booted early from the show for running her mouth about Jimmy and unfortunately that didn’t fly with producers. Apparently, Annabelle recognised Jimmy from a dating app which lead her to question why he would be on the show looking for love.
The info was leaked to The Daily Mail by a production insider, so of course take it with a grain of salt. The source told the publication that Annabelle thought “Jimmy was a privileged kid who was still enjoying the playboy lifestyle.” Producers allegedly caught wind of that comment after another contestant dobbed Annabelle in, and that’s why she got the boot.
But I think the real tea here is not that Jimmy was on a dating app, because who isn’t? But that the producers have such a say in who stays and who leaves. Last year, gossip poddy So Dramatic! revealed that production were allegedly trying to rescue Locky’s ep by editing out anything that made him look like a dickhead.
Jimmy seems like a genuinely nice guy, however I do think we are being given an extremely sanitised version of him – as well as the contestants. Are we so afraid of another Blake Garvey that we refuse to let any of the contestants say anything bad about The Bachelor?
Blake Garvey wasn’t the only Bach either that soiled the show’s reputation. Honey Badger also brought the franchise into disrepute when he chose no one at the final rose ceremony (something we’d never seen before).
Personally though, I don’t think Blake Garvey backtracking on his final choice or Honey Badger choosing no one was as bad as the media made it out to be. If anything, it shows how human behaviour can’t be controlled, and that you kind of need to let people be their authentic selves (even if that is being a cockhead).
If a Bachie contestant thinks Jimmy Nicholson is a player, let her think that and if Jimmy really is a loyal guy, then she’ll come off looking like a mug.
