The 6 Original Avengers Minus The Coward Mark Ruffalo Got Matching Tatties

A lot of people without tattoos will tell you that they don’t have any because they can’t think of any one thing they’d be happy to have on their body permanently. This is entirely the wrong attitude: the body is temporary; you won’t have it for nearly as long as you think. You’re taking all this special care with it now, but one day, without warning, it will become lifeless meat after you die in a likely dreadfully embarrassing fashion. You may as well put stupid shit on there that you think is funny.

Is it obnoxious to get a tattoo with your colleagues of a project that you did for work? It might be, but that sure didn’t stop Scarlett Johansson, Chris Evans, Jeremy Renner, Robert Downey Jr, and Chris Hemsworth.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Downey Jr said that the plan was that all six of the original Avengers were going to get one together, but that Mark Ruffalo piked.

Five of the original six Avengers got a tattoo and the sixth was the tattoo artist, who gave it to five of us, the one who opted out being Mark Ruffalo.

As implied in that previous quote, though, six people did indeed end up getting the tattoo, with the five assembled Avengers each doing a line with the tattoo artist’s own tattoo machine on the tattoo artist’s own body:

Each one of us drew a line on the artist with his own tattoo gun and it was a total massacre. Each of us contributed to giving the tattoo artist the sixth tattoo that he designed for us. By the way, he’s got another one on him that Scarlett did, which is beautiful, which is crazy, because the line she drew on him, which was just supposed to be a straight line, looked like a lightning bolt. It was a mess.

Well if it’s good enough for celebs, maybe I’m not a “huge idiot” or “complete deadshit” for letting my mate drunkenly give me a Sonic Youth tattoo with a tattoo machine he bought for $50 for a laugh.

The tattoo itself is a combination of the Avengers logo and the number six, you can see a bit of it in the video below:

Bless their adorable hearts.
