The ‘Avatar’ Sequel Titles May Have Leaked And What The Actual Fuck?

Avatar

As far as I’m aware, nobody who saw Avatar was particularly desperate to find out what happened next to the blue dudes from planet wherever, but that did not deter director James Cameron, who is currently in the process of making four sequels to the 2009 hit.

The first of these sequels is due to arrive in 2020, and while the titles haven’t officially been announced yet, BBC News claims to have seen “documentation” that reveals what the films are going to be called, and oh boy, if they’re right, we’re in for a wild ride.

If the leaked titles turnout to be accurate – and frankly, BBC News seems like a fairly reliable news source, because they’re all serious and British-y and whatnot – then over the next decade or so, you can look forward to seeing:

  • Avatar: The Way of Water
  • Avatar: The Seed Bearer
  • Avatar: The Tulkun Rider
  • Avatar: The Quest for Eywa

I mean, there is a lot to unpack there, and there are a lot of jokes that I probably can’t make on a family website, but all I’m going to say is that I CAN NOT WAIT to see what kind of hysterical, low-budget porn parodies The Seed Bearer inspires – I’m looking at you, men dot com.

20th Century Fox has not yet commented, but the titles seem to be plausible, based on what little we know so far about the films, especially the fact that James Cameron has said that one of them will take place in an underwater world.

The blue dudes from the first film are extremely invested in forests and trees, and trees come from seeds, so that second one checks out, while Wikipedia tells me that Eywa is the name of a nature goddess that they worship, so that could make sense also.

I have no idea what a Tulkun Rider is and if it’s any different from these guys, but I guess that one will make sense in the context of the other movies. As mentioned above, these reports remain unconfirmed, so I guess we’ll just have to wait and … seed.
