We Finally Know When Survivor: Nerds V Jocks Will Premiere & Holy JLP’s Forearms It’s Soon

Well light your torches and fine tune those Idol radars, friends. The long-awaited and very hotly anticipated new season of Australian Survivor not only has an official release date, but it is gut-achingly soon. Your Survivor-less days are near an end. Salvation, and JLP’s sweaty torso, are both nigh.

Channel Ten has been powering up the hype train for a number of weeks now, with this year’s season set to take on the Survivor: Brains v Brawn subtitle and theme; pitting brain geniuses against muscle-bound freaks in the ultimate game of human chess.

But this morning PEDESTRIAN.TV can reveal exclusively that the long-awaited new season of Australian Survivor will arrive on screens from Sunday, July 18th.

As in, a shade over two weeks from now.

Oh boy.

In confirming the premiere date, Ten also unveiled two brand new teasers which give us a much deeper look at this year’s cast.

There’s one focusing on the Brains side of things, showing us glimpses of an apparent “Crochet King” as well as a self-described empath…

…and one teaser centring on the Brawn end of proceedings, which introduces us to MMA fighter Chelsea who dead set looks like she could tear my arm off with a sideways glance.

Previously, we’ve gotten glimpses of some of the more notable names that have found their way into this year’s crop of castaways. That list includes award-winning author Wai Chim, noted big wave surfer Flick Palmateer, and 1993 AFL Brownlow Medalist Gavin Wanganeen, who is vying to be the first Indigenous person to win Survivor.

This year’s season deviates slightly from years gone by in that it hasn’t been filmed in the relatively cruisy tropical shores of Fiji. Instead, contestants were dropped into a visually breathtaking but physically gruelling location in outback Queensland, where temperatures soared during the day and plummeted at night.

Honestly, it has simply been far, far, far too long without Survivor on our screens. Thank the Immunity gods that it’s finally back.

Sunday fortnight cannot get here fast enough. Bring on the bloody blindsides, you absolute beauty.

Australian Survivor: Brains v Brawn premieres Sunday, July 18th at 7:30pm AET on Channel Ten and TenPlay.
