Australian NBA Tour Is Tantalizingly Close To Happening

Pedestrian’s hoop dreams almost came to fruition last month with web murmurs of an NBA All-Stars tour that would see “three All-Star matches at Rod Laver Arena in late 2011”. Today, America’s home of sport confirms those rumours with an insider source divulging a likely list of players and cities participating in the global lockout time passer. This thing’s going to be crazy.

According to the source “the league’s top players are finalizing plans for a two-week exhibition tour during what would have been the first two weeks of the regular season…more than a dozen of the league’s best players are working to join forces on what would be a two-week, six-game, four-continent blockbuster tour…”

Translation? One of Australia’s most iconic sporting events not involving cauldrons of fire and Nikki Webster. Apparently Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Derrick Rose, Carmelo Anthony, Chris Paul, Amare Stoudemire, Chris Bosh, Rajon Rondo, Blake Griffin, Russell Westbrook, Carlos Boozer, Paul Pierce and Kevin Love are among the players expected to participate in a tour that will eventually make its way through Puerto Rico, Macau, London, and the hallowed birthplace of Andrew Gaze.

We’ll let you know when official word comes through. In the meantime, here are some of the magical things that can happen at All-Star games…
