Aussies Lead The “Girl With The Dragon Tattoo” Race

With Daniel Craig already confirmed to star as Mikael Blomkvist, the biggest mystery surrounding David Fincher’s adaptation of Stieg Larsson’s best seller The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo is the casting of Lisbeth Salander, the world’s most beloved computer hacking bisexual goth.

Aside from names like Ellen Page (Inception, Juno), four Aussies are said to be considered for the once in a lifetime role. According to Deadline Hollywood Mia Wasikowska (Alice in Wonderland), Emily Browning (Sucker Punch), Sarah Snook (Sleeping Beauty) and Sophie Lowe (Beautiful Kate) are all in the running to play “one of the most complex roles to come along for a young actress in a very long time“. Apparently Fincher held another round of testing over the weekend with hopefuls reading across from Daniel Craig in full hair, makeup, costume and piercing treatments. Let’s hope one of the Australians made it through.

Fincher’s adaptation is slated for a December 21, 2011 release.
