Aussies In LA: The Next Crop

Sam Worthington may currently be Hollywood hot property in the wake of Avatar madness, but the female contingent of Australians-in-Hollywood are representing too.

Emily Browning first made waves in international waters when she was cast in Lemony Snicket’s: A Series Of Unfortunate Events and the future is looking super bright. She is set to play the lead in Sleeping Beauty, described as a “haunting erotic fairy tale about a student who drifts into prostitution and finds her niche as a woman who sleeps, drugged, in a ‘Sleeping Beauty chamber’ while men do to her what she can’t remember the next morning.” – The seven dwarfs this ain’t!
She has also just wrapped on director Zack Snyder’s next big project “Sucker Punch” alongside Jon Hamm and Abbie Cornish.

Another young Australian actress making Hollywood casting director’s wet their pants is Mia Wasikowska, whose forthcoming releases include Tim Burton’s hotly anticipated adaptation of “Alice In Wonderland” and Gus Van Sant’s next project “Restless”; and she has also signed on to play the title role in yet another literary adaptation, Cary Fukunaga’s “Jane Eyre”.

Crazy times for young Australians in Hollywood. Move over Nicole, Naomi and Hugh: the next wave has well and truly arrived.
