Aussies are Already Pirating The Hell Out Of Orange Is The New Black Season 2

It’s no secret that, in addition to being a nation of thieves, criminals and degenerates, Australia leads the world in TV piracy. Well, it’s somewhat fitting this week that the release of a show about thieves, criminals and degenerates should pique our interest. The long-awaited second season of the prison drama Orange Is The New Black arrived on Netflix, this week, and Australians are already pirating the living hell out of it, because of course we are.

While there is no official data on piracy – because, duh, it’s piracy – Google Trends shows that Australia currently leads the world in internet searches for the phrase “Orange Is The New Black torrent.” Overall interest in the search phrase went way, way up ahead of the new season’s June 6 release date.

Australia is way ahead of second seed Brazil, while the United States is a distant third. Cosmopolitan Melbourne is the number one city looking to pirate the show, I guess because people there have the greatest vested interest in knowing what the new black might be.

In fairness, the show is currently only available on Netflix, which means that there’s no legal way for Aussies to watch it outside of installing a geoblocking app and signing up for an account. Piper would be so disappointed in all of you. Red would probably approve, though.
