Full disclosure: anything with Aubrey Plaza in it is automatically deemed ‘good’. That is our standard film rating system, and we make zero apologies.
However, her new film is looking to hit the ‘good’ mark regardless of our blatant favouritism. Plaza is set to star in a new dark comedy called Ingrid Goes West, about a young woman who becomes obsessed with a social media celebrity and her “seemingly perfect life”.
[the uncomfortable silence as we all realise just how relatable that is]
Plaza (who’s also a producer) obvi stars as the full-blown psycho stalker. She becomes increasingly obsessed with social media star Taylor Sloane (played by Elizabeth Olsen), to the point where she uproots her life to try and meet Taylor IRL.
“When Ingrid decides to drop everything and move west to befriend Taylor, her behaviour turns unsettling and dangerous,” wrote The Hollywood Reporter, which had the exclusive.
Matt Spicer – who co-wrote the script with David Branson Smith – is set to make his directorial debut with this one, and uh…. that’s about it, folks. Details are scarce. Who the hell knows when this’ll be out. But we’re waiting.
