Comedian Ash Williams Says He Was “Ghosted” By ‘The Bachelor’ Producers Last Year

After much anticipation, 2019’s The Bachelor was revealed to be hot nerd Matt Agnew, a PhD student at the Centre for Astrophysics and Supercomputing at Swinburne.

Matty boi follows Nick ‘Honey Badger’ Cummins as Australia’s Bachelor but apparently, the rugby player wasn’t their first choice for 2018’s bloke.

Comedian Ash Williams has alleged that he was initially offered the primo role by producers but was dumped at the 11th hour.

“They called me,” Williams said on the High Heels and Hangovers podcast. “They were like ‘Do you want to do The Bachelor?’ and I was like, ‘Well, I’m not doing anything for like the next five years so I can spare three months.’”

The Aussie personality adds that he even attended auditions for the position.

“I had the auditions and then they wanted to do a camera test. So you do it with all the sets made and for an afternoon I felt like The Bachelor,” he said.

“Then they were like, ‘Pack your bags, this is going to happen really quick!’”

Williams told the hosts that he went as far as to pack his shit in preparation of the jaunt to Bachie Mansion and waited for The Bachelor producers to call and finalise the deets, but never heard back.

“I was ghosted, the fucking pricks,” he said, adding: “It’s fine … I don’t care.”

Rude! But surely they at least contacted him to audition for this year’s season, right? Nup.

“Definitely not,” he said. “Every opportunity that you get, it’s about where you are at at that point of time … Right now, I just don’t think I would. I don’t really need to do it or want to do it.”

Hot nerd Matt’s season is set to start production in Sydney this week.
